Witches, vampires and winelovers from all over the universe … here we go: Halloween is around the corner and what better time to indulge in some sin of gluttony? And then, more than eating well, the most important thing is to drink well … Here are some ideas for a scary dinner (in a good way, of course): some simple dishes that blend well with a good glass of Chianti red!

Let’s start with a good first hot pot, beautiful to look at and awfully good to taste: Halloween risotto served in the pumpkin. You can pair it with a red Chianti young and medium-bodied, just not to tire the palate. Begin to peel the pumpkin and cut into cubes. In the meantime, you heat the vegetable broth, add the pumpkin and let it cook on low heat for fifteen minutes. Aside, melt 50 g of butter, add chopped onion and sauté well. Then the procedure is the same of the classic risotto one: add the rice, toast and continue cooking gradually adding the hot broth and the diced pumpkin. When everything is well blended, remove from heat and stir in a knob of butter and season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately presenting your masterpiece in a pumpkin or into four little pumpkins . Creepy!

Take a deep breath. The night is young and there’s time for eating (and drinking). But if your guests are very much hungry, go straight away to the second dish and the fear passes!

Make them happy with a light dish: the chicken rolls with pumpkin will be fine. You can accompany them with a more structured red: the right choice to be quite happy and light before the “trick or treat” tour. Cut the pumpkin into strips and then into rectangles. Heat a griddle and then roast the vegetables for a few minutes. Then, whip it with curry and a pinch of salt. Spread the slices of chicken, season with salt and spread the cream on each one. Form the rolls by stopping with string and bake for fifteen minutes at 200 degrees. When you bring them to the table, make sure that they are still hot: a nice treat for your guests!

And for the children of all ages (not just for those who on the night of October 31 will go knocking on doors asking for “trick or treat?”) there are cookies filled with nutella cream and cinnamon: so easy, so good, so caloric!

But how can you resist? You can prepare it in a moment. More or less, the same time that your friends will take to finish them off once they have tasted and that the magic of chocolate will have them spellbound. Then you need: pastry, 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of nutella, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Then proceed as follows: combine all the ingredients working them together with an electric whisk for a minute until all become fluffy. Stuff the cookies and let it sit in the fridge for half an hour, then serve at room temperature: good … to be frightening! Drink on a good Vin Santo del Chianti and enjoy the party!
