Florence, March 9th, 2016
It was born and is called A.VI.TO: it’s the name of the Tuscan Wines Association DOP and IGP, the first unified association that represents Tuscan quality viticulture.
A.VI.TO is more than just an acronym: a real historical happening for the sector and for Tuscany, which now unites in a common denominator many organizations historically oriented to the preservation and promotion of the names and individual territories. It is a common path in the Tuscan Consortia, which began in 2014 with the story of the Plan of Territorial Address (PIT) and continued on themes common to all wine companies.
A.VI.TO. will be the spokesman of unit interests: each individual situation, both the bigger consortium and smaller ones, will have a chance to express itself and develop its own specific nature, always a success factor for the Tuscan viticulture: an enrichment for all, born from the meeting of different experiences. Today there are in A.VI.TO. 16 consortiums representing about 5,000 producers and from the collaboration of Institutions, Associations and Professional Organizations, work programs will be developed to strengthen the positioning of the industry on world markets and increasing competitiveness.
So Giovanni Busi, President of the Consorzio Vino Chianti: “It ‘a great satisfaction to see transformed into an Association the table established two years ago to talk about common problems. I believe that this partnership will give great results, through trade associations, institutions, politics, in favor of the entire wine industry and the image of Tuscany and Italy in the world “.
