Protection and promotion: attack is the best defence.

The Consortium engages in activities for the protection and promotion of the appellation, consumer information and general oversight of the pertinent interests.

These delicate tasks, envisaged by law, are carried out not only in our local territory, but also in the rest of Italy and abroad, where our wine excels among the export percentages of products made in Italy.

Moreover, we devote time, effort and passion to numerous fair and professional initiatives for the assiduous promotion of Chianti wine, to raise awareness and encourage the appreciation of its specificities, both on established markets and in new emerging countries.

All for one, one for all.

With the acknowledgement erga omnes, the burdens of this multiple activity are extended to all the stakeholders in the chain, regardless of whether they are members or not.

The Consortium is responsible for planning moments of growth, deceleration and whatever else is necessary for the correct management of the appellation, in keeping with the needs of production and the market. We have also been assigned the role of manager of the government quality seals that certify the reliability of the product.

In the interests of the producers and to provide a guarantee for consumers, we also carry out targeted surveillance actions during the product marketing phase. In compliance with precise control plans approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, we take samples of Chianti D.O.C.G. wines (bearing our name on the label) from the market, to check whether the product contained meets the chemical and physical requirements envisaged by the production specifications. The surveillance activity also extends to online monitoring and has successfully foiled numerous attempts at the sale of fake wines.

Our association also performs the same duties in relation to some other Designation of Controlled Origin wines, such as “Vin Santo del Chianti”, “Colli dell’Etruria Centrale” and “Bianco dell’Empolese”.

The work of the Consortium and its members – producers, historic companies, wine merchants and cooperative wineries – guarantees maximum transparency in the production and marketing of Chianti D.O.C.G. This means that various different professional figures work every day to organise events, build good institutional relations, prevent fraud and guarantee the quality of digital communication.

Our mission is not simply to ensure that the world drinks Chianti, but that more and more people “feel” Chianti.
